Deweeses in Kentucky

Our branch of Deweeses showed up in Kentucky shortly after it was ceded (for a second time) by the Shawnees and other Indians as a result of the Battle of Fallen Timbers (1794).

The territory, ignoring Indian ownership, was part of Virginia.
In 1776, the county of Kentucky was formed.
In 1780, it was divided into three bits - Lincoln, Jefferson and Fayette Counties.
In 1792, Logan was formed out of Lincoln County, and that is where our people first show up.

In 1810, Butler County was formed from Logan and Ohio Counties, and that is where our people are found next. It isn't clear (to me) if they actually moved, or if
the name of their part of the county just changed.

Their final home in Kentucky (before they headed off to Indiana, Illinois, and parts west) was Ballard County, which was formed out of Hickman County, which was formed out of Livingston County, which was formed out of Christian County, which was formed out of Logan County.
So, once again, it isn't clear if they or the county line moved.
I suspect it was a move this time.
Butler County is now fairly south central Kentucky and Ballard is the most western county, right where the Ohio runs into the Mississippi.

There are no actual censuses for Kentucky for 1790 and 1800, so tax lists are substituted.

People in our direct line are highlighted.

Ballard formed 1842 from Hickman and McCracken; Carlisle formed from it in 1886

I think this is JW Deweese, who may or may not be a son of Henry and Amelia.
(Many genealogists make him their eldest; Jack Vaughan does not include him.)
                   He married Emeline Unknown.
He died about 1851, and Emeline - I THINK - went to Warrick County where she is on the 1860 census with Patrick Pruett.

The young Deweeses are probably children of Henry and Amelia (assumed deceased) Elijah and M . Elijah moved to Warrick Co, married Sarah Margaret Shrode there in 1857. He died there in 1907.
Not everyone is convinced M is a daughter of Henry & Amelia.

The Deweeses are William and Garret, sons of Henry and Amelia.
William married Elizabeth Mary Ann Jones in about 1850, moved to Warrick Co before 1860. They had 14 children. He died in Warrick Co in 1875.
Garret married Mary Lee Watson and stayed in the area of Ballard Co most of his life. He later married two more times, Dora Miller, Mrs. Ellen Parks.

Tolbert or Talbert moved to Warrick County, married Mary Elizabeth McCool in 1862. They had 12 children. He died in Warrick in 1912.
