Pennsylvania Deweeses

Our particular branch of the Deweeses were in Pennsylvania until about 1770, when they moved, first to Virginia, then to North Carolina.
So nobody on the Pennsylvania census listings is us -
but some of the earlier info may apply.

And I'm sorry about the scanty bib info - this was done at the beginning of my career, before I had learned to be careful about sources.  I have tried to find the information, but sometimes I am not sure which of several possible books I used.

- nice history of the cemetery -
          early settlement of Germantown = mostly Quakers, Mennonites
           ~1700 other religions started coming in -> separate graveyard - land donated by someone, subscription taken to build wall. 1724.
           1st subs. list - Wiliam Dewees, Hermanes Kuster, Claus and Garrett Rittinghausen.
           1766 someone wanted to bury black child there, so they made a rule - no blacks or strangers
