Many of the Tennessee Lusks are descendants of the Augusta Co, Virginia Lusks -
and hence of the Chester Co, Pennsylvania Lusks.

Joseph Lusk 1753-1839
One of the genealogies of him that I have seen has him as the son of William of
Chester, but that is almost certainly not the case - he is most likely the grandson of
William of Chester via his son William who married Elizabeth Vance.

Lusk, Joseph S4581, NC & VA LIne, sol was b 15 Mar 1753 in Augusta Co, Va & he lived at the Sycamore Shoals on the Watauga River in NC at enl & after the Rev he lived in TN then moved to Buncombe Co NC then moved to McMinn Co TN where he appl 5 Sep 1832 having lived there some 12 to 13 yrs, a son Joseph Lusk, Jr. was living in 1839, sol d 15 Aug 1839, also shown but relationship to this claim was not stated, towit: Joseph Lusk enl at Pikeville in Bledsoe Co TN in the War of 1812 & srv from 10 Jan 1814 to 13 May 1814 & in 1851 he was living in Bradley Co TN where he appl 4 Sep 1871 aged 81, sol had m Rebecca Igo in Nov 1812 in Bledsoe Co TN & she was still living in 1871.

Slagle, Polk Co., Mo He married Jean Boyd August 27, 1801 in Carter Co., Tn,
daughter of William Boyd and Rebecca Porter. She was born 1783 in Augusta Co., Va,
and died 1835 in McMinn Co., Tn.- see his own page.
This John Lusk was the son of Robert (1743-1801 TN) and Mary Unknown.
Robert was the son of John Lusk (1705-1751 Augusta Co) and Mira Hays.
John was the son of Nathan Lusk (1681?-1748 Augusta Co) and Elizabeth Nevitt.
And Nathan was the brother or uncleof William of Chester.

Samuel Lusk
This Samuel left a will in Maury County (recorded 1824) in which he mentions his wife
Margaret and children Elender (married to a Whiteside and living in South Carolina),
Margaret (married to McGill with a son John), James, Samuel and Robert.
His son James left a will in Maury County (dated 31 Oct 1852) in which he mentions his
wife Elizabeth and children Samuel, John and Sinthey (married to a Bingham).
These wills, and others from their family, are available from the US GenWeb Archives (files
contributed by Trudy Lusk).
I have seen a genealogy in which he is made the son of James, grandson of Nathan - but
this is almost certainly not the case (he is not mentioned in James's will [filed 1804
Abbeville SC]).
But he is probably connected somehow with the South Carolina Lusks.
Another Samuel Lusk - passing through TN - but I can't really match him with anyone on
the census.
