Susannah

           m John Van Tyle
           Notes from Una Bowman
“Lived in the Minisink region, now Greenville. Reported to have had a son Daniel, b 1781, d 1844 of typhoid fever - m Rebecca Writer - probably moved to Sullivan early 1800s - buried in the Van Tuyl Cem in Lumberland Town near Pond Eddy
Apparently they settled near Greenville, Orange County, NY. History of the area stated “In 1789 the first town Meeting and election were held at John Van Tyle’s (Fort Van Tyle, Greenville)”
But it seems to me at least possible that they too moved to the Cayuga/Seneca area, and at about the same time - the Johns in Orange county seem much too young to be him.

Reuben MCINTYRE - Reuben McIntyre appeared in the 1810 census of Hector. He purchased land in Hector 67 southeast of Mecklenburg in 1813. He was mentioned in several land documents as owning land bordering that owned by Gilbert Stevenson. He was married at least twice, and his second wife was Julia Owen, daughter of Joshua Owen and Zippora Winters. According to his will, his children were: Sabrina, Roxy, Rosetta, Melinda, Dewitt Clinton, Genette, and Loiza (the only child of Reuben and Julia). Reuben died in 1831 after an illness and was buried in McIntyre Settlement Cemetery. Jonathan Owen II (brother of Julia) and Gilbert Stevenson (husband of Elizabeth “Betsey” Owen) were the executors for his will. Identity of Reuben McIntyre confirmed with land deeds and his wiill.

With his third wife, Nancy Darby
William ~1779
m Elsie McCord (see Jonathan’s son William)
According to Hook, he married Elsie McCord, daughter of Andrew McCord "who mentioned her in his will, 1803." He says further that she was probably the Elsa Owen who died 13 Sep 1810, ae 27.
Inherited the homestead farm where Nathaniel lived at time of will - provided he took care of his mother and paid his younger sisters 100 pounds on the day of their marriage. Hook says "He may have removed to Pennsylvania after his wife's death." (p. 36)
The problem is that our Jonathan had a son named William (b 1775), who, according to one of his descendants, married Nancy McCord.  They had 4 children (only name I know is Hudson); Nancy died in 1814; William moved to Pennsylvania in 1819, where he lived until his death in 1855.
Una Bowman has found a land record where Nathaniel's son William sold land with his siblings. He was identified as a trader of Wallkill and his wife was Elsey. The other William - if it is another William, the one who married Nancy McCord was a tanner.
I did a quick search for Andrew McCord - he was quite a prominent person, serving in both the US and NY legislatures (among other things). I haven't found his will, but Una Bowman did provide me with this note: Will of Andrew McCord of Wallkill Sept 1803 - I December 1810 - Highland Cemetery.  Wife Letha, sons John, Andrew, Jane Mills, Mary McCase?, Else wife of Wm Owen
It seems unlikely (to me) that Elsie and Nancy are the same woman. There are plenty of other McCords in Ulster/Orange county in the early days.  In 1790 in Wallkill alone there were two: Andrew, with 6 females  and Samuel with 7 - Samuel appeared on the page before Nathaniel and Andrew on the page after.

Julianna ~1782
        m (1) William McBride
        m (2) 13 Mar 1803 - Goshen Presbyterian - James Carpenter
[Hook says Samuel Carpenter. Una says a Juliana Owen married James Carpenter on that date - but if she married William McBride first, then it should have been Juliana McBride marrying Carpenter.]
The James Carpenters I’ve found in the early censuses have women who are mostly too old to be Juliana. I did find one in Cayuga County in 1830:
                     1830 NY Cayuga Sempronius 309- James Carpenter 01000001 0101101
In 1850 I found a James Carpenter with a Julia in Orange County (Newburgh) - but they were both too young, and Julia was more likely James’s daughter
                        1850 NY Orange Newburgh
                             James Carpenter 52
                             Julia 29 / Mary 20
There were other interesting census listings, but without more information, it is impossible to know if they’re even close. There was a Julia of about the right age in Niagara County (Lockport) but without a husband James. There was a James Carpenter in Lenawee Co, Michigan of about the right age - he had a wife Catherine (sigh) but a possible daughter (she may have been a daughter-in-law) Julia age 43, born NY. Unfortunately, he was a Baptist clergyman, and James and Julia were married in a Presbyterian Church. There were a LOT of younger Julia Carpenters in Michigan in 1850 - named after a common grandmother?

Temperance ~1784
I have no information about her at all. Una says one lineage sheet has her marrying Samuel Carpenter - and there was a Samuel Carpenter (age 71, b NY) in Lenawee County, MI in 1850 (same county as James, above) - his wife was Polly (age 60, b NY).  Sounds possible, but - they were still there in 1860, living next to son Ebenezer (which is interesting in and of itself, no?), and in 1870, they were living with him - and Polly this time was identified as Mary. So there it is.
